My schedule has changed this year and I will not have the last week available to make/work on a digital yearbook this year!

Is there anyone (Parent/Teacher) who would be willing to take that on?

If so please let me know (hoover_C@aps.edu) and I will figure out how to direct pictures/videos your way!

Please join us in the cafeteria on Tuesday, May 8th from 1:30-2:30 to learn about resources and activities available to families in our community. As we go into the summer we want to strengthen families and ensure that their needs are met.

A raffle will be held at the end for families that attend the Information Fair. There will be gift cards, family games and other prizes. The drawing will happen at the end. If you are not present we will send the prize home with your child. One prize per family

We look forward to seeing you there!

This year our K -5 students will have an opportunity to participate in the K-3+ Summer Academy or the Summer Remediation at Carlos Rays Elementary school.  We put 10 copies of the intent letter in the gen. ed teachers’ mailbox ready to be used during PTC. Please offer the programs with our parents during your PTC. Extra copies are in the front office. We need the bottom part of the form back to verify that we have offered this opportunity for their child (even if they marked: (“No, I do not want my child to participate in this program"). Below are list of information pertaining to both programs:

  • K -3+ is a  five week “jump start” program providing students with hands-on science based curriculum with emphasis in the areas of reading, written language and math.  This program is for our students who are currently in grade K – 2.  For example, students who are currently in kindergarten will enroll in 1st grade, current 1st graders will enroll in 2nd grade, and current 2nd graders will enroll in the 3rd grade K-3+.
  • Students who attended the K-3+ programs will continue with the same teacher for next school year 2018-2019 unless the teacher is not at Alamosa.
  • The curriculum or summer learning kits being used are Amplified Science kits as follow:
    •  Kinder  K3+:  Push, Pull, Go
    • 1st Grade K3+: Light and Sound
    • 2nd Grade  K3+: Designing Mixtures
    • 3rd Grade K3+:  Digestion
    • 3rd Grade Remedial: Gravity and Matter
    • 4th Grade Remedial: Adaptation & Variation
    • 5th Grade Remedial: Chemical Changes
  • Summer Remediation program is the program designed for students who needs extended time in their current grade level.  For example, our current 3rdgraders will enroll in the 3rd grade remedial or vice versa.  Programs are not intended for special education students. However, we cannot turn away special ed. students so it is very important that you clarify with parents that there will be no IEP accommodation or modification.
  • Both programs will run from : Wednesday - June 20 – Wednesday - July 25, 2018   No School July 4th
  • Students will receive free breakfast and lunch.
  • Free bus transportation for those students who ride during the regular school year and for those students who walk to Alamosa will also receive free bus transportation to Carlos Rey.  Parents will need to provide transportation for those students currently attending Alamosa but are out of district or under transferred status.
  • All parents intent letter must be returned to the front office by the March 16th so the information can be compiled and passed on to the summer program director.
