If your child is going to be absent from school, it is your responsibility to call (836-0288 – press 2) before 8:30 a.m. If this is not done, the absence will be considered unexcused.  According to New Mexico Compulsory Attendance Law (sec. 22-12-2), more than 4.5 days absence per semester will result in a report to Children’s court.  For safety reasons, Alamosa’s attendance monitor will call families to determine the whereabouts of unexcused absent students.  Students are responsible for all assignments missed.

It is extremely important that your child arrives on time to school every day.  After 3 tardies, the office will notify parents.  Students who arrive late must report to the office before going to class.  The tardy bell rings at 7:50a.m.

  • School begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m.
  • Students may not arrive before 7:15 a.m.
  • If your child arrives late or needs to leave early for an appointment, please report to the office first to sign them in or out.  Please Note:  Children will not be released from class after 1:30pm on any given day.
  • Parents are encouraged to make appointments, whenever possible, outside the school day.
  • Students will only be released to the names on the enrollment card.

Phone use for students will be allowed on an emergency basis only.  Parents, please make every effort to make your child aware of any change of after-school plans before leaving home in the morning.  This will keep classroom interruption to a minimum.  Cell phones are absolutely not allowed.  They will be confiscated.
